Prevention | Direct counseling program on the VOV (Voice of Vietnam) Transport Radio Station | Project: Promotion of Lesbians Rights and Increasing Men’s Participation in Gender Equality and Domestic Violence Prevention in Vietnam (Phase II) – Fund from Swedish Embassy
Goal: This is the direct counseling program, which is to create opportunities for guests and listeners to discuss about the roles of men and women in the family, about unequal notions that lead to domestic violence, and then discuss with listeners progressive directions that are encouraged in society.
Objectives:
- Creating online ideas exchange between experts and listeners across the country on issues related to violence and how to keep the family happiness.
- Creating an exchange bridge among listeners who have the same inmost feelings.
- Giving online counseling and support in order to help listeners resolve their problems.
- Giving a new and multi-dimensional look (under the eyes of experts and listeners) for problems occurring in families to help change outdated concepts still existing in each individual, each family and community
Location: Voice of Vietnam – 58 Quan Su - Hanoi
Time:
- Broadcast time: Live broadcast from 21h to 23h every Saturday nights, replay on the same hours on Sundays.
- Duration: From 2011 to 2013.
- Quantity: 36 programs (01 program per month)
Program’s objects: The program is primarily designed for men in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.
Participants: Counseling experts participating in the program include: 1. Family Researcher: Trinh Trung Hoa 2. Counseling Expert: Vo Thanh Giang 3. Doctor of Sociological Behaviors: Trinh Thang 4. Program content: Each program has a different theme revolving around relationships in the family, focusing on the husband and wife relationship, the roles of men and women in the family and issues related to gender inequality that lead to domestic violence.

Activities of Teenage Groups at Schools Male students are aware of the violence caused by men, and then they know how to control and reduce their own violent behaviors... Older Meetings of Fathers-to-be Groups at Polyclinic Hospital, Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province The program is to create a close relationship between husbands and wives, especially in the period the wives are pregnant. Furthermore, the program is aimed to create safe feelings for future mothers, help them prepare the best for the important period in their lives... PROGRAM “THE REAL FATHER” When BECOMING A FATHER, you then know how difficult it is to be a father! You start to know about difficulties that your parents had to cope with in order to bring you up. You may feel regretful of days that you wasted next to your loved ones. But it seems that everything is too late, when your loved ones get older, even some of them passed away forever Introduce about the Prevention ProgramGoal: Raising awareness and capacity of community and all stakeholders (including mass media, social organizations and men) on gender equality and women rights.
Objectives:
- Decrease traditional gender stereotypes.
- Promotion of gender equality in society and family.
- Promotion of responsibility of all stakeholder in practice of gender equality and women rights.
