Building a Counseling and Media Resource Center of Gender- Based Violence (CMRC) | | | This 2-years-lasting project is fund by the Ford Foundation and Oxfam Novib and aims at providing support and information for the media and social workers and -organizations working in the field of gender in Vietnam. To achieve this, the 24 months will be used to set up the center, including collecting material and building a database, building a collaborative network and promote the CMRC. With an international collaboration the CMRC tries to aim its mission to become the biggest clue of management, transferring and exchanging information and techniques on gender-based violence in Vietnam.
To establish the center in the first place, training activities for the staff will be held and the infrastructure and equipment for the multifunctional library will be set up. To make the center accessible for activists, social workers and the media, the CMRC will be introduced and advertised. Furthermore a professional magazine about gender-based violence will be published and through lists, for which you can register for, new information will be spread. Moreover normal seminars and online seminars about the CMRC and contents of the CMRC will be held. The final objective is to support social workers and the media in informing and counseling on methods of addressing and supporting victims of gender-based violence. Activities to reach this objective will be held in the third year and include building of a referral line to provide information and consulting methods to solve gender-based violence cases, translating toolkits into Vietnamese and editing guidelines on gender-based violence for journalists and editors. So finally a successful CMRC will improve the capacity of the media and social workers and -organizations in addressing gender-based violence in Vietnam.
