Who We Are? | Introduction of CSAGA | Center for Studies and Applied Sciences in Gender – Family - Women and Adolescents (CSAGA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicating to the implementation of the rights of women and children who are affected by violence and discrimination. CSAGA was founded on July 1 2001 under the registration No 101 DK/KHCNMT of Hanoi Department of Science, Technology and Environment. CSAGA’s main activities focus on two main subjects, women and children who are vulnerable to gender-based violence. Our main fields of working are Gender and Gender Equality, Domestic Violence Prevention, Corporal and Psychological Punishment against Children Prevention. These issues are developed through activities: Counseling, training, mass communication and implementation of intervention projects.

ACTIVITIES
Studying: CSAGA focuses on these main themes: Gender, Family, Women and Children.
Training: CSAGA has a team of skillful trainers who have been trained in new working methods. CSAGA has given capacity building to some organizations and become trusted counselor for some international organizations.
Projects: CSAGA has been implementing some of these following projects:

Project: “Promoting the rights of lesbians and encouraging the participation of men in domestic violence prevention” from 2009 to 2013, funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam.

Project: “Supporting to implement the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control and promoting to supplement related policies” from 2011 to 2014, funded by the Oxfam Novib.

Project: “Migrant women and men shoulder to prevent forms of violence” from 2010 to 2012, funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Project: “Cooperating with mass media in improving community’s awareness about gender equality and reducing gender patterns in mass media” from 2008 to 2011, funded by the Oxfam Great Britain.
Communication:
CSAGA has cooperated with many mass organizations, including newspapers, television channels, radio stations from national to local levels, directors and artists to produce communication products about gender equality and gender-based violence. During the last decade, we have produced 52 television programmes, 119 radio programmes, 2 television series, 1 documentary film and 6 art exhibitions about the topic of gender equality and gender-based violence in Vietnam. Of which, the television series “The Ideal and the Real” produced by CSAGA and Vietnam Feature Film Factory in 2009 received three national prizes, the Golden Kite Prize, for the Best Actor, the Best Director and the Best Film Script.
Counseling: CSAGA has 13 years of experience in giving direct and telephone counseling with thousands of costumers coming to us. CSAGA’s professional counselors were trained by international prestigious and experienced experts.
Event organization: Seminars, workshops, contests and exhibitions are communication activities that help CSAGA raise community’s awareness about gender equality and gender-based violence prevention effectively. Communication activities held by CSAGA during the time have received very good public opinions. Through series of modern and innovative activities, CSAGA can help change attitudes and behaviors of many target groups about gender and gender-based violence.
Intervention activity: Intervention activity has been carried out in projects and mainstreamed in other activities such as counseling, communication, events organization, training… Specifically: Raising community’s awareness of gender and gender equality, tension release and crisis prevention, prevention of gender-based violence and violence against children; sexual abuse prevention, knowledge improvement of sexual and reproductive health and rights and safe sex. Especially, with its tireless efforts, CSAGA has cooperated with functional ministries, offices and organizations to support survivors of domestic violence, returned victims of human trafficking and rescue some cases of across-the-border human trafficking.
