On July 23, 2001, the Center for Studies and Applied Science in Gender, Family, Women and Adolescents (CSAGA) was formally opened under Clause No.101STE of the Department of Ha Noi Science Technology and Environment.
MISSION
CSAGA acts to motivate the right implementation for groups of women and children affected by discrimination and violence in Vietnam through creative methods.
STRATEGY
CSAGA’s key competences defined by the organization are designing process affecting psychology by means of creative methods and connecting. From these key competences combined with external and internal advantages as well as threats, CSAGA defines: its strategy is “developing and transferring models of promoting the implementation of the rights of women and children affected by discrimination and violence.”
VALUES
CSAGA defines four values as well as four features of the organization’s culture that are being built as follows:
- Sincerity - Learninge - Co-operation - Responsibility
- Material environment demonstrating above cultural features: tidy, systematic, scientific... Staffs costume suitable with their jobs; Creative corner with creative table and space ...; colors and arrangement: flowers, bonsais; adequate equipments facilitating jobs: adequate equipment maintained and taken care of according to the organization’s assignment.
VISION
By 2015, CSAGA will be evaluated by local and international organizations and individuals as the leading organization in building and transferring varied and effective models which are to motivate the right implementation of women and children who are affected by discrimination and violence in Vietnam through designing ‘psychological impact’ processes, connecting and mobilizing resources.

Training:
CSAGA has many experiences in designing and organizing training courses in increasing capacities and changing awareness of such subjects as local authorities, unions, women and children who are affected or at high risk of becoming victims of domestic violence, trafficking in persons
Strengths in training:
- There is a clever application of theory to a 13- year experience in intervention and research in gender, preventing domestic violence, anti- corporal punishment against children and anti human trafficking.
- Professional aspect in training is shown from analyzing demands to designing and evaluating a training course.
- Art and creativeness- a new approaching methodology in Vietnam - contribute to increase strengths of discovery and corporation between trainees. This helps to change value, relationship and create the effectiness of work.
- Lessons are designed basing on experimental cycle, taking full advantages of trainees, creating a safely, cooperatively and essentially training environment which helps trainees to get all knowledge provided.

Counseling:
CSAGA has 13 years experiences in emotional and psychological counseling, in which many professionals are trained carefully by both internal and international experts. These professionals include knowledge and counseling skills in preventing gender- based violence, domestic violence and counseling for victims of human trafficking.
Forms of counseling: face to face counseling, counseling via telephone, private counseling, group and community counseling.
Normally, CSAGA does private counseling by seeing customers directly or via telephone. Counselors are officers of universities, colleges, or MA, BA graduated from psychological, sociology or medicine. Counselors have taken part in many specific training courses on counseling skills and increasing professional knowledge on preventing violence, trafficking in persons, and anti corporal punishment against children.
Besides, other forms of counseling such as group or community counseling also given basing on demands of local partners and communication purposes of organization.
Researching:
CSAGA concentrates on intervening researches, using culture and right- based approaches. Researches focus on domestic violence, gender equality, living value of young people, and reality of corporal punishment against children.
In the next time, CSAGA orients to carry out researches deeply concentrating on finding causes.
Communication:
CSAGA pays much attention to communicating to increase awareness and changing behaviors towards domestic violence, gender inequality and violence against children. Contents of communication are knowledge on increasing understandings and ways of preventing these issues mentioned above. These contents are shown in different forms such as reportages, seminars, newspapers, and other mass media: radio, television, internet, leaflets and automatic information lines. Besides, CSAGA also carries out many other broadcasting programs in community such as holding poem’s competitions, composing plays, performing plays, singing and dancing.
